It is no longer news that the Nigerian economy is in a very bad shape arising from the economic recession in the country. Things are so bad now that millions of Nigerians can hardly afford a decent meal. There are millions of Nigerians desperately seeking, but not getting, jobs. As if to make the matters worse, companies are laying off their staff and swelling the unemployment market. It is saddening that many who had jobs during the very corrupt Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration are now out of job during the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration. We voted for change and we were very happy when we did. But we did not vote for this recession, and we expect things to change. We expect to live better lives now.
As I am not an economist, I can only appeal to the government to convene a meeting of critical stakeholders and find an immediate solution to this recession before hunger wipes all Nigerians off. We are tired of this recession and all it represents, most especially austerity and hunger. If the current ministers are the problem, I urge President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint other people of proven integrity and let them bail us out of this recession. Whatever government can do to end this recession must be done immediately.
